Discipleship at the Rise happens in 3 ways:

Circles

Small groups that gather weekly, or periodically for bible study, and/or simple fellowship.

Partnerships

One-on-one discipleship , reading through the Bible or resources like the purple book.

TEAMS

Teams are the most consistent element of community at the Rise- we can't function without them.

Resources & Ideas

Bible Study Ideas:

  1. Until Unity By Francis Chan - A book, study guide, and videos for small groups. It is available for free on Hoopla as well. This would be a great option to do as a church-wide study. 9 Sessions

  2. Practicing the Way - 4 weeks each on Sabbath, Prayer, Fasting and Solitude. These are more contemplative, simple, and community based with additional resources to dive deeper on your own. 4 Sessions

  3. MessengerX - Free courses from John and Lisa Bevere on all kinds of things- these haven’t been vetted yet, but there are many free resources on their app.

  4. 24-7 Prayer - Unanswered Prayer course- Haven’t looked at it yet, but it may be a good short study after a season of prayer. 5 sessions

  5. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality - In 8 weeks, you’ll learn how to slow down your life and develop depth in your relationship with Jesus. 8 Sessions

Short Term Bible Study Groups vs. Demographic Small Groups:

People are more willing to lead short term studies than long-term small groups. Brainstorm about opportunities to equip members to lead studies with work books and leader guides, and make sure there is accountability and support from the Pastor and Leaders before launching something like this. Tuesday Night groups could go through a study that participants can then lead new groups through in the next season. Create opportunities for discipleship.

Discipleship through Teams

Set Up/Tear Down - Breakfast & Bible study or fellowship between set up and service that is intentional and encouraging.

Worship + Production - Prayer &/or quick Bible Study on Sundays & Monthly Hangouts or Worship nights to strengthen the culture of family and worship and invest in their growth and understanding as lead worshippers on Sundays.

Kids + Hospitality - Create intentional opportunities for fellowship outside of serving. Maybe its bible studies, maybe its just get togethers.

People over performance.
